Why do I need to supply my billing information for the free trial?

The reason we ask for billing information is to prevent users from abusing our freeĀ trial offer as it’s the only way to validate honest users against users who repeatedly signup with false account information. In the past we had people signing up multiple times for our freeĀ trial falsifying their names, email addresses, etc. It hurts our members more than us.
We therefore instituted this Fraud Prevention method whereby the credit card billing company authenticates the individual signing up.
